Use Modifier Pages to organize modifiers and find them quickly on the MODS tab. Modifier pages can be associated with ratios, which are especially useful for pizzerias when adding whole and 1/2 topping options on a pizza order.
Before ringing up orders with modifier ratios, merchants must configure modifier ratios, configure the Mod Add. Price setting, and enable the Modifier Page setting.
Configuring Modifier ratios sets specific ratios for modifiers, such as 1/2 sausage toppings or 1/4 bacon toppings. Modifier ratios are configured on the Custom Vars screen.
- From Home, navigate to Settings > Preferences.
- Tap the Custom Vars tab.
- From the Type list, select Modifiers Page.
- Enter or edit modifier ratio names, as desired (e.g., 1st Half Topping), in the Description column.
- In the Ratio column, enter a ratio as a numeric percentage. For example, enter 50.0000 for 1/2 toppings.
- Enable all desired modifier sliders in the Active column.
- Tap Save.
After configuring modifier ratios, assign a price to associate with modifier ratios configured previously on the Custom Vars screen. This is done using the Mod Add. Price setting under Items > Categories.
- From Home, navigate to Items > Categories.
- Select the Category or Subcategory associated with the modifiers.
- Enter a price in the Mod Add. Price field (e.g., 1.00).
- Tap Save.
Enable Modifier Page settings under Item Details to apply modifier ratios to specific modifiers.
- From Home, navigate to Items > Item List.
- On the Items List screen, select a modifier (e.g., Sausage).
- Tip! Use Advanced Item Search to narrow your search. For example, to display only pizza toppings, after tapping Advanced Item Search, select a Category (e.g., Mods) and Subcategory (e.g., Pizza Toppings). Then tap Search to display search results.
- On the Item Details screen, tap the Modifiers tab.
- From the Modifiers Page drop-down menu, select All Pages.
- Note: Merchants can restrict modifier ratios, if desired, by selecting a single Modifier Page setting, such as 1st Half Topping or Slice Topping.
- Tap Save.
- Note: Modifier price ratios have no impact on the Modifier Price setting under Item Details. The Modifier Price is always charged in full unless a merchant selects Hold from when entering an order. See “Applying Modifier Ratios at the Register” in the next section.
Modifiers are either required or optional. The Required Modifier view automatically displays on the Register app when entering an item with required modifiers.
By default, modifier ratios are located on the Optional Modifiers view. Tap the MODS button to display the Optional Modifiers view. See View Modifiers at the Register.
- Example: A customer orders a Cheese Pizza and requests sausage covering 1/2 and ham covering 1/4 of the pie.
- On the Register app, select Cheese Pizza.
- Enter any required modifiers, then tap the MODS button.
- Select 1st Half Topping, then tap Sausage. The Sausage MOD displays in the order window at a charge of $0.50.
- Select 1/4 Topping, then tap Ham. The Ham MOD displays in the order window at a charge of $0.25.
- Note: When selecting Hold, no modifier charge is applied.
- Tap Save Mods.
- Continue with the order and process payment.
- Modifiers display on the kitchen ticket and customer receipt.
- Tip! For more complex modifier combinations, merchants can also enter special instructions in the Notes section on the Order Details screen. Tap the Order Details tab, then select the Notes work area and enter special instructions, as desired.
For more complex modifier combinations, merchants can also enter special instructions by tapping the Add Note button on the Optional Modifiers screen. For the order below, a customer requests to have 1/4 Topping of Bacon placed on top of a 1st Half Topping of Sausage.
- After entering the order and required modifiers, tap the MODS button.
- Select the desired optional modifiers, then tap Add Note.
- Enter special instructions in the pop-up screen, then tap OK.
- Special instructions display in the Register app and also the kitchen ticket when the order is complete.
