Add Modifier to a Group

  • Last Updated: March 10, 2021

Modifiers can be either required or optional. Required modifiers are identified as such by being added to a modifier group.  Adding a modifier to a group will enable it to appear with other required mods when a customer rings up an order at the register.

  • Note: A modifier is added to a group for EACH item it modifies. Example: If “Pittsburgh” is a required modifier for both “House Burger” and “Babe Burger”, first “Pittsburgh” is added to the group that modifies”House Burger”, and then “Pittsburgh” is added to the group that modifies “Babe Burger”.
Add Modifier to a Group
      1. From Home, tap Items.
      2. Choose Items Details.
      3. Tap the Modifiers tab.
      4. Confirm that the correct modifier item is featured.  If the desired item is not displayed, tap the List tab and select the correct item. See Find Modifier Details for assistance locating the correct modifier page.
      5. Click to highlight an item from Modifies these items.
      6. Choose Go To.
      7. View items on the This item’s modifiers list.
      8. The Required field indicates whether the associated modifier is required or optional.
      9. Mods are listed according to group. Scroll down to see a complete listing of MODS and their groups.
        • Required: No – indicates that the mod is optional.
        • Required: Group A – the mod is assigned to Group A
        • Required: Group B – the mod is assigned to Group B
        • Required: Group C – the mod is assigned to Group C
        • Required: Group D – the mod is assigned to Group D
      10. Scroll down to locate the desired modifier (i.e. Pittsburgh Style.)
      11. Select a group from the drop-down menu (i.e. Meat Temp).
      12. Press Save. After saving, This item’s modifiers re-sort into group order.

The “Pittsburgh Style” MOD has been assigned to the “Meat Temp” group for “House Burger.”

      • Tip! Check your work! Navigate to the Register and place an order for a House Burger to confirm that “Pittsburgh Style” appears in the “Meat Temp” group.

Add Modifier to an Additional Item's Group
Add a required MOD to a group for EACH item it modifies.  For example, add “Pittsburgh Style” to the “Meat Temp” group for “House Burger” and also to the “Meat Temp” group for “English Pub Burger”.

  1. From the MOD record, (i.e. Pittsburgh Style), highlight an item from the Modifies these items list (i.e. English Pub Burger.)
  2. Choose Go to.
  3. This is a list of all MODS associated with “English Pub Burger”:
  4. Repeat steps to add the MOD “Pittsburgh Style” to the group “Meat Temp.”

  • Note: Modifier Groups can be labeled. See: Label a Modifier Group

  • Tip! MODS in a group can be applied in duplicate!  See:  Enable Duplicate Required Modifiers
