A Tender Discount is part of the Cash Discount special pricing program that allows merchants to apply a discount to the List Price, or posted price, of an order when customers pay with cash. The Tender Discount applies to all items and services you sell when a customer pays with an eligible tender type. This program has the following stipulations, which are specific to current card brand rules and regulations:
- Merchants display one price at their location.
- When customers check out, they are billed that price.
- If a customer elects to pay cash, they receive a discount.
- This model does NOT add a fee to increase the amount charged when a card is used.
- There are no Exatouch device limitations with this program.
- The merchant is responsible for providing the cash discount.
- Optional: Signage advising that a discount is available for cash payments may be displayed at the point of sale or other locations (physical and/or online). Signage wording (example): We offer a 3% discount for all cash purchases.
- Merchants are responsible for understanding all local and state laws regarding pricing disclosures.
