Items in Exatouch make up your inventory for sale and populate your menu with non-inventory items, where applicable.
- Note: We provide a complimentary menu and inventory import service. Our in-house specialists can set up your menu with items, applicable modification options, and import your inventory.
Before your items are imported by our team, or you add your inventory and menu items, your inventory and menu are blank. Users with appropriate access can add items at any time directly into Exatouch.
- To add a new item, navigate from Home to Items > Item Details > and tap New to open the Details tab for a blank item.
- Enter item information in available fields in the Details work area. Required fields are Items marked with a red asterisk (*).
- Enter or select item information and settings in other work areas (Pricing, Tax & GL, Promos, Inventory, Inventory Options, Purchasing, Modifiers, Inventory Matrix, and Inventory Adjustment).
- Tap Save to save your changes.
The fields in the Details work area hold baseline information about your inventory and menu items. This information is used extensively in Exatouch: processing orders and sales in the Register app, creating sales reports, generating receipts, order tickets, and to increment available inventory where applicable.
Required fields are Items marked with a red asterisk (*).
- SKU*: The Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) is a multi-digit number assigned to inventory and menu items. Exatouch supports EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, and UPC-E compliant barcodes.
- Retail, Restaurant, Salon/Spa: Items with compliant numbers – enter the number or scan the barcode.
- Retail, Restaurant, Salon/Spa: Items without compliant numbers – generate a number by tapping the barcode button next to the SKU field. Add the item’s scannable barcode in the Alt SKU field to associate the item to this item entry.
- Restaurant, Salon/Spa: Menu items (not Services) – generate a number by tapping the barcode button next to the SKU field.
- Item Name*: The brand or friendly name of an item. After you complete this field, it is auto-populated to several other fields in this work area.
- Price*: The retail price of the item before fees and taxes are applied. If left blank, will remain $0.00.
- Description: A longer description of an item, such as the ingredients, toppings, or uses. You can use this to include allergen information as well.
- Button Label*: Auto-populated from Item Name. Generates the Register button for this item. Click the button shown to edit the appearance of the Register app button as needed.
- Receipt Description*: Auto-populated from Item Name. Prints on customer and tender receipts.
- Remote Print Description*: Auto-populated from Item Name. Prints to remote printers or displays at prep stations.
- Sticky Label Print Description: Auto-populated from Item Name. Prints on sticky labels to sticky label printers. Can be a short friendly item name, such as Vegetarian Sub or Onion Soup. Affix to specific items to help match and manage all items in an order.
- Category* and Subcategory*: Select available categories and subcategories to organize and keep track of your items. If you do not have a category and subcategory available or are unsure, select None as a temporary measure.
- Note: A number of these fields are used to support and populate information in optional services such as DeliverMe.
Other fields and options in the Item Details work area control availability and other Register app behavior for an item. Depending on the specifics of your Exatouch configuration, not all fields may be available.
- Note: If your default stock type is Inventory Item (Retail), the Stock Locations work area is included. If your default stock type is Non-Inventory (Restaurants, Retail, and more), the 86 Item? toggle is included. Change an item’s stock type at any time in the Item Details: Inventory work area.
- Item is a Modifier: Enabled: This item is a modifier for another item. Disabled: This item is sold alone.
- 86 Item?: Visible for Non-Inventory items.
- Enable to mark this item as unavailable for sale. You must disable this toggle manually.
- If this item is included in your Fresh Sheet, it is zeroed out and listed in grey, indicating it is currently unavailable.
- If the item is included in items for sale through supported online order websites, it is flagged as currently unavailable.
- Disable to mark this item as available for sale.
- Enable to mark this item as unavailable for sale. You must disable this toggle manually.
- EBT Cash: Enabled: This item is eligible for EBT Cash sales. Disabled: This item is not eligible for EBT Cash sales.
- EBT Food: Enabled: This item is eligible for EBT Food sales. Disabled: This item is not eligible for EBT Food sales.
- E-WIC Eligible?: Enabled: This item is eligible for E-WIC tendered sales. Disabled: This item is not eligible for E-WIC tendered sales.
- Show on Register?: Enabled: Include the item as a button in the Register app. Disabled: This item can still be sold, but is not shown as a button in the Register app.
- Refundable: Enabled: This item can be refunded. Disabled: This item can’t be refunded.
- Age Check: Select an option. No: No age check is required for this item. Select one of the two ages defined in Register Preferences to force age verification for this item.
- Stock Locations: Visible for Inventory Items. Click to add or edit stock locations for this item.
- Discontinued?: Enabled: An item will no longer be re-ordered. Any remaining stock is for sale until inventory is depleted. Disabled: The item is not discontinued.
- Note: Liquor stores working with the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission: If the state has discontinued this item, the item is automatically flagged as discontinued in Exatouch when new price files are downloaded. Any remaining stock is for sale until inventory is depleted.
- Make Available Online?: Enabled: This item is available for sale on supported online order websites connected to your Exatouch system. Disabled: This item is not available for sale online through Exatouch.
- Tip! After adding an item, navigate to the Register app to verify item placement in the appropriate category and subcategory.
- Tip! Practice adding items in Training Mode! Training Mode acts as a sandbox, whether you’re new to Exatouch or training a new employee. Play around in your system, try things out, and add sample items without affecting your real-time data. Â
The Item Details work area includes several work areas you use to add information about your items. Depending on your Exatouch installation, not all options shown may be available.
- Details – Baseline information about your item. Descriptions, Register app button, category, and availability information.
- Pricing – Adjust and define pack sizes, pricing, and costing information. Adjust Price Override, and Weight settings for an item.
- Tax & GL – Enable tax collection for an item, set up revenue, and report information.
- Promos – Set up sales and promotions for an item, as well as define price reduction PLUs.
- Inventory – Define an item’s stock type, inventory quantity level flags, custom fields, tag alongs, as well as size, style, color, and manufacturer information. Set up a CRV, if needed.
- Inventory Options – Define Parent-Child inventory links, and Alternate SKUs for an item.
- Purchasing – View sales information for an item, define vendors, and start a new order for more inventory.
- Modifiers – Add, adjust, and view modifiers for an item.
- Inventory Matrix – Set up inventory matrix options for an item.
- Inventory Adjustment – Add or remove inventory for an item.
