Create an Open Kitchen Item to allow an item to fire to a specific kitchen printer, with the added flexibility of attaching a modifier and unique pricing.
Exatouch facilitates non-menu item orders by enabling the creation of Open Kitchen Items. This option also allows items to fire to specific kitchen printers, with the flexibility of attaching modifiers and unique pricing.
- From Home, navigate to Items > Categories to open the Category work area.
- Tap New Category, then type Open Kitchen Item in the Description.
- Select either Items category or Services category.
- Select the appropriate printer from the list, and define other settings as needed from this category.
- Tap Save.

To create an Open Item for off-menu orders, do the following:
- From Home, tap Items > Item Details.
- In the Details tab, fill out all required fields. Note: Category and Subcategory should be set to Open Kitchen Item.
- In the Pricing tab, select Price/Quantity Prompt.
- Price Prompt – Enter the price of an item when it is selected in the register.
- Quantity Prompt – Enter the quantity being purchased when selected in the register.
- Both – Enter the price and quantity purchased when selected in the register.
- Tap Save. The Open Kitchen Item button will appear on the Register.

- In the Register, tap the Open Kitchen Item button.
- Assign a price, then tap OK.
- In the Register, tap the MODS button.
- Add item details in the Order Notes/Special Instructions box. (100 character limit.)
- Tap OK. Note: Merchants can use the Add Price box to upcharge an item, depending on what is ordered.
- Tap Print Remote. An image of the printed order appears on the screen with the Order Notes/Special Instructions in red.
