Custom Register Prompts

Custom prompts allow merchants to program reminders for cashiers and servers that will pop up before moving on to the end of a transaction.

This addition to the transaction process can help Exatouch users remember:

  • Retail: Ask customers if they want to sign up for rewards or a store gift card.
  • Restaurants: Ask if customers want a box, if they want dessert, or how they want to pay.
  • Grocery Stores: Check below the customer’s cart for additional items and ask if they have coupons or a store discount card.

To add a custom register prompt, do the following:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Register Preferences.
  2. Tap Orders, and then tap the Custom Prompt toggle.
    The Orders tab in the Register Preferences settings. The settings screen is divided into two columns. There is a blue box around the Custom Prompt section in the bottom of the right column. There is sample text in the textbox that reads: "Did you check underneath the cart?" Below the text box, there is a note for Exatouch users that reads: "Enabling this preference will prompt a user with a custom, on-screen reminder during the payment process. For example, the Custom Prompt can be set to remind a staff member to collect customer email information or charge for plastic bags."
  3. Type in the desired prompt, and then Save your changes.
    • Note: Be sure to keep the prompt short so that it can fit in the pop-up window. The window can fit 4-5 lines.

The prompt will appear when saving or closing out an order. The user must tap Yes to proceed, as tapping No will bring the user back to the Register screen.

An example of a custom register prompt. There in the window, there are two questions: "Did you check underneath the cart?" and, "Would you like to continue?" There are two buttons on the window: A red button in the bottom left that says No, and a green button in the bottom right that says Yes.
