Enable Cash Discounts

Encourage your customers to pay with cash by offering a cash discount! As a retailer, restaurant, or other business, you can automatically apply a tender type discount as a percentage discount to a customer’s total purchase.

What is a Cash Discount?

A cash discount is a discounted price you offer to cash-paying customers. Offer this tender type discount alone, or in conjunction with an admin fee. To offer cash discounts, enable Tender Type Discounts for your Register app. This discount applies to all items and services you sell when a customer pays with a tender type eligible for a discount.

  • Note: Merchants often prefer customers pay with cash. To encourage this, they offer a discount. When you enable cash discounting in Exatouch, a cash discount is applied automatically in the Register app at purchase time. You can also add discount messages to customer receipts — further incentive for customers to save money and keep coming back!

Enable a Cash Discount
  • Note: Only administrative users can change settings in your Exatouch system.

  1. From Home, navigate to Settings > Account.
  2. Tap the Tender Discount tab.
  3. Enter a Tender Type Discount amount in one of the Apply To: fields as a percentage.
  4. Optionally, enable and add a Cash Payment Receipt Message:. This message prints on cash payment customer receipts.
  5. Optionally, enable and add a Non-Cash Payment Receipt Message:. This message prints on non-cash payment customer receipts.
    • Tip! Use the provided variables when you customize your receipts. The variable {%disc} includes the percentage discount applicable to the tender type. The variables {$disc} and {dollar} include the total discount dollar amount applicable to the tender type. The variable {tender} includes the tender type used in this transaction.
  6. Tap Save to save your work.

Apply Cash Discounts at the Register

Cash discounts are applied automatically by the Register app if a customer pays with cash.

  1. From Home, navigate to the Register.
  2. Create an order, and then tap the Pay tab.
  3. Select Cash as the payment option.
  4. Complete the payment transaction.
  5. Cash discount amounts and messages display on customer receipts.

Cash Discount Scenario

Settings:

  • A Cash Tender Type Discount of 3.50% is defined.
  • No Admin Fee is defined for any tender type.
  • Receipt: A cash receipt includes the cash discount applied, while a non-cash receipt does not include a discount.
    Item Total: $2.07
    Cash Discount: – $0.07
    Subtotal: $2.00
    Taxes: $0.16
    Total: $2.16
