Activity Log settings enable merchants to have role-specific control over employee access to system functions. Activity Log reports display activities such as login, logout, and PIN entry.
The Activity Log settings in Exatouch allows business owners to not only fine tune who is able to complete certain tasks but also track who executes those tasks to ensure compliance and standards of practice.

Activity Log settings allow merchant admins a way to track employee activity and role-based system access in Exatouch. Note: By default, only Admin users will have access to the Settings module in Exatouch.
- Navigate to Home > Settings > Security Profile.
- Select the appropriate User Profile from the dropdown list.
- Find the activity you’d like to log by scrolling down the list or using the Permission Search field. Note: By default, the Open Cash Drawer activity is always tracked. This can be deactivated (not recommended).
- Enable the toggle in the Log column.
- Click Save.
Activity Log reports are run from the Staff Reports module.
- Navigate to Home > Reports > Staff.
- Define the scope of the report on the top of the page.
- Staff: Search for a specific staff member. This field is optional; if left blank, the report will include all employees; if staff is specified, only those employees will appear on the report.
- Range: Select one of the preset ranges (e.g., business hours).
- Begin/End: Customize a search by selecting Begin and End dates and times. This option is only available when Custom date range is selected in the Range dropdown.
- Preview: Display report preview.
- Select Activity Log.
- The Activity Log will automatically open to the Preview page.
- From the Preview page, select one or multiple options:
- Save File: Save report to an external drive.
- Send Excel: Email Excel spreadsheet.
- Send PDF: Email PDF.
- Send Word: Email Word document.
- Close: Close the Preview page and return to the Staff Reports page.
- Send Now: Send report immediately to the recipients.
- Save: Save the scheduled report.
- The send by email window options allow for multiple recipients and customizations by report name, range, format, frequency, and scheduling.
Reading an Activity Log Report
An Activity Log report will provide information for:
- Staff: Every staff member who fits the parameters entered.
- Module: The station where the activity occurs.
- Date/Time: Dates and times staff accessed the station.
- Record ID: Each action has its own ID number.
- Action: Staff activity.
In this report, you can see Amanda’s system activity:
- Amanda logged in and attempted to Open Cash Drawer, but she doesn’t have the PIN/access to that activity.
- The Admin entered the PIN and logged back out.
- Amanda logged back in.
- Amanda attempted to Close Batch, but she doesn’t have the PIN/access to that activity.
- The Admin did not enter the PIN, so Amanda logged out without closing the batch.
