Retailers, restaurants and other businesses can implement a customer service fee to help with business expenditures and maintain exceptional service and competitive prices. With a few simple steps, a customer service fee can be applied automatically as a set dollar amount or percent of the customer’s total purchase. Customer service fees can also be used in conjunction with cash discounts.
- Update: Customer Service Fee is now Checkout Fee. This change complies with major card brand requirements.
Customer service fees can be applied either as a percentage of a customer’s purchase (typically between 3-4%) or as a set dollar amount. The amount is applied to the customer’s total purchase, regardless of tender type.
- Note: Customer service fees can be applied with or without cash discounts.
- Tip! Some businesses choose to apply a customer service fee which has the same value as the cash discount they offer. In this scenario, the value of the cash discount effectively cancels out the value of the customer service fee.
Customer service fee is first enabled in Settings. Once enabled, customer service fee can be activated for individual items or groups of items. See: Enable Customer Service Fee – Prior Releases
